Executive Presence

As you move up the corporate ladder, honing your leadership and communication skills is crucial to success.

Executive Presence is a bit of an esoteric concept that is the ‘it’ factor successful leaders have in organizations.

Something she said that resonated is: “.. in general women feel like they have to be 100% ready vs men who feel they have to be ~60% ready – to go for a promotion/job/opportunity…” As women let’s change that to 70-80% (or less) – go for it now!

5 components/skills:

  1. content – not as simple of knowing your stuff – speak clearly and concisely and to the point; in the language of your target audience; having the courage to speak up in a high stake environment; find the nerve;
  2. interactions overall with others – builds or reduces Executive Presence
  3. confidence – in the value you bring to an organization; the value of your work;
  4. body language – is needs to be congruent with the words (and tone) coming out of your mouth
  5. your voice – the way in which you say things – tone of voice
